Walking Group Page 2

Card Making 001

One of our new members joined us on the walk through the 'green spaces' of Bournville.
There was quite a lot of reminiscing as three of the group had lived on Bournville in the past and passed on quite a lot of knowledge about the area. This included the Model Yacht Club on the Yachting Pool which happened to be sailing some of their crafts which can be seen in the photographs.
We started off from Bournville Green and crossed over the main road straight into one of the many parks that are in Bournville but later in the walk we walked around Rowheath Recreation Grounds as well.
Although it was cloudy we kept our spirits high by chatting about the area plus many subjects which were extended when we visited the local cafe in the garden centre.
It was an opportunity to speak to our new member and enlighten her on what Wythall WI is about.
Good winter walk as not as muddy.

10 ladies & 2 dogs enjoyed a wonderful walk with nature (great for the mind) from the Visitors Centre at Arrow Valley Country Park.
The walk took us around the man-made lake where we saw lots of wildfowl, onto the area known as the'arboretum' which included some very mature trees. Here were some of the oldest trees in the park and some over 300years old. Then finally back following the River Arrow to the lake & the Visitors Centre.
We did take a slight detour after the arboretum to see Ipsley church (photo on Lt). Here we were offered refreshments & the opportunity to view inside the church.

Included on the Lt is the leaflet showing the walk that we followed & the diversity of nature we encountered.
These included wildfowl, trees, butterflies & the great variety of ancient hedgerow.
